The levels of hypocrisy are absolutely astounding – this ghastly pair have reached a whole new low.

So as a country – here’s where we’re at. The bloke in charge of the Office for Budget Responsibility has been forced to quit because he actually did his job and told the truth about the nation’s finances. Richard Hughes has been made a scapegoat because his organisation dared to contradict the lies, the exaggerations and the gloom laden predictions being peddled to the public by the shysters in Government. Hughes’ office told Rachel Reeves way back in September there was no blackhole, but she omitted to tell the cabinet that very important fact.
She was told again in October that not only was there no black hole but there was actually a £4.2B surplus but sneaky Rachel Thieves also hid that little nugget from her cabinet colleagues (not Starmer though – he knew) And why? It was so she could go ahead and impose crippling taxes on working people to fund a benefits splurge that will fund the idle, the feckless and the jobless.
Yes, the OBR was the source of the embarrassing leak which made the budget public before Reeves had even delivered it. But that was an accidental leak.
Unlike the very deliberate budget leaks Starmer and Reeves have presided over for months – leaks which caused turmoil in the markets and in businesses everywhere.
And let’s not forget until this week Reeves worshipped at the feet of the OBR. In opposition she loved it – especially when it was tearing Liz Truss to shreds. But now that its exposed her lies she wants it gone!
Remember the OBR was created back in 2010 by the then Chancellor George Osbourne to provide independent forecasts for the economy – including inflation, unemployment and the outlook for economic growth.
And that’s exactly what it’s done. But Starmer and Reeves don’t want truthful forecasts – mainly because they expose them as the bungling eejits they are.
They want the kind of forecasts that support what they’re doing – even if they’re wrong. They don’t want the truth made public about Britan’s piddling growth they want THEIR (erroneous growth) forecasts believed so it’ll look like they’re doing a fantastic job – which they aren’t.
This Labour Government unlike any other in living memory fabricates its own truths. It literally invents a narrative and insists that’s how it is. It believes that if it says something is true, we’ll all automatically believe it.
It’s why both Starmer and Reeves ludicrously said this week they had definitely NOT misled the public over the nation’s finances even though we know they have. We have seen and heard them do it countless times.
Both have been droning on about the black hole for months – Reeves put it at somewhere between £20-40Bn – yet for much of that time they knew there wasn’t one. And when confronted with the fact they have lied to our faces their answer is always the same: “I don’t accept that.”
Watch how many times both use that phrase! The upshot now is we can’t believe a single word either of them say – on anything. And if both have lied to us over something as serious as the Britan’s finances – what else are they lying about?
Both have disgraced their offices; both have tried to hoodwink the British public. Both have taken us all for fools. More importantly both lack moral courage and integrity because if they had either they’d have resigned by now.
And mark my words Starmer has stood by Reeves this week (and in the last few months) not because he gives a damn about her but because until now, she’s been his buffer, taking all the flak for Labour’s failing fiscal strategies. Starmer knows that if he sacks the “buffer” the spotlight falls on him and he too will be out the door.
But what kind of PM says he’s proud of a budget that’s foisted £26Bn in taxes onto hard working people a year after they’d been hit with £40Bn of them? How can he be proud at throwing another £16B at a welfare system that just a few months ago he claimed was broken.
It’s hard to even look at our hypocrite PM who says he understands the problems faced by the working classes because he has faced them himself. The Hell he has!
His father, Rod, wasn’t just a toolmaker – he owned the bloody company, the Oxted Tool Company. And Starmer went to the local Grammar which became a private school two years after he started there.
So no, he hasn’t a clue about the problems facing working class people. Starmer is as big a fraud as is his Chancellor. And both have lashed each other to the lies about Britain’s finances and so both have to go.
And it won’t be long. Until now the cabinet has always felt it needed to back the lies and the ludicrous choices made by Reeves and Starmer.
But now its realised this unscrupulous pair lied to them too by not telling them about the OBR’s revised forecasts and so the knives are out.
Reeves and Starmer clearly think sacking the boss of the OBR is going to save their sorry backsides – well they’re wrong. All its done is confirm in the minds of the British people that they both prefer lies to the truth.
And how timely is the sacking of Richard Hughes? He was due to appear before MPs at a Treasury committee. Now he won’t which will spare Reeves from even more criticism.
Only hopefully it won’t. I’m hoping Mr Hughes will do what Starmer and Reeves are incapable of – have the moral integrity to tell the truth to the British people about this disingenuous pair.
I hope he does the rounds of TV stations and newspapers and tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about his dealings with these two chancers.
Because they have shafted him to save their own skins and he owes them nothing. My fear is he’ll say nothing because he’ll feel shame at the fact the OBR leaked the Budget.
But he needs to know British people don’t care about that leak – they care about the damaging lies told by those they elected to represent us. Its Starmer and Reeves who have betrayed the British people – not the OBR.
All it did was tell the truth!
