Lefty luvvies will finally be permitted to personally house asylum seekers from across the world, under new asylum reforms unveiled by Shabana Mahmood. The Home Secretary has just announced that as part of her hardline illegal migration crackdown, she will introduce a ‘Homes for Ukraine’ style arrangements for “anyone willing to host those in need”.

It will mean that left wingers insisting Britain accept more asylum seekers will be forced to put their money where their mouth is, as they gain permission to use their spare bedrooms to accommodate refugees from across the globe. In a new announcement published this morning, the Home Office said the policy would “help shift the financial burden from taxpayers and reduce pressures on asylum accommodation.”

It’s part of a plan, being announced alongside more hardline crackdowns to stop small boat crossings, to introduce new safe and legal routes for genuine refugees, which Ms Mahmood hopes will quell demand to enter Britain illegally across the Channel.

The new asylum routes for work and study will be capped and controlled based on the capacity of and willingness of communities to welcome them.

This morning the Home Office also announced fresh plans to use artificial intelligence to age check migrants claiming to be children in order to gain asylum in Britain illegally.

Facial Age Estimation tech will assess the person’s age in seconds, and is both quicker and more accurate that existing X-Rays or MRI scans.

Announcing the move, Ms Mahmood said the current system is “outdated and broken, with illegal migration placing huge pressure on communities”.

“This week I will end the soft touch approach to illegal migration by setting out sweeping reforms, including new AI technology to root out those pretending to be children to game the system.

“We will do whatever it takes to secure our borders.”

The department highlighted one recent case of an asylum seeker spending six weeks in an Ipswich school year 11 class, despite being an adult.

The hardline Home Secretary is set to make her flagship speech on new comprehensive asylum reforms tomorrow, as the Labour Government grapples to get a grip in order to stop the rise of Reform in the polls.

The changes will include a quadrupling of the amount of time an asylum seeker who enters Britain illegally has to wait before they can apply for permanent settlement.

It will rise from just five years to 20 years, which Ms Mahmood said will end the current “excessively generous” asylum system, seen by those wanting to come to Britain on small boats as a “golden ticket”.

Refugee status will also be changed so the claim is reviewed every 30 months.

The 20 year wait for ILR will be the longest in Europe, with Ms Mahmood insisting it is part of a package of reforms that represent the biggest change to the immigration system since 1945.

She warned that illegal immigration “is tearing our country apart” as she warned left-wing Labour MPs not to frustrate the changes.

She added: “It’s our job as a Labour Government to unite our country and if we don’t sort this out, I think our country becomes much more divided.”

However her Tory opposite, Chris Philp, warned: “I think this is another gimmick which involves tinkering around the edges.

“If they were serious about ending illegal immigration they would come out of the ECHR and ensure every illegal immigrant was deported within a week of arrival to prevent them claiming asylum in the first place.”
