An urgent warning has been issued to shoppers as a popular ready meal sold in Irish supermarkets has been recalled due to potential health risks for certain customers.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) announced on Friday that a batch of Fit Foods Beef and Mash with Pepper Sauce has been withdrawn because it contains several undeclared ingredients not mentioned on the packaging.
The food safety body revealed that specific batches of the well-known ready meal, available in Tesco and Dunnes Stores, include sesame, soya and celery which are not listed on the packaging.
The FSAI warned that this could make the batch hazardous for shoppers who have allergies or intolerances to sesame, soya and/or celery, and as a result, these individuals have been advised not to consume the affected batch.
A withdrawal has been put in place for 400g packs of Fit Foods Beef and Mash with Pepper Sauce with the batch code 2528101 and a use by date of 20/10/2025.

This recall comes just hours after the FSAI issued an urgent “do not eat” alert for a popular range of chicken nuggets, goujons and fillets available in supermarkets nationwide.
The specific batches of chicken products being recalled include Pekish chicken goujons (all use by dates up to and including 14/10/2025); Pekish chicken nuggets (all use by dates up to and including 16/10/2025) and Pekish breaded chicken fillets (all use by dates up to and including 18/10/2025).
The FSAI has initiated the recall due to incorrect cooking instructions on the labels. Retailers have been instructed to remove the affected batches from sale and display recall notices at the point-of-sale.
Wholesalers and distributors are being encouraged to contact their affected customers, recall the implicated batches, and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retail clients, reports Dublin Live.
Last week, a recall was issued for cheese and onion flavoured crisps due to fears they could present a “possible health risk”. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) revealed that One Stop Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps were found to contain undeclared milk.
This means they could cause reactions in individuals with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. A notice from the FSA stated: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
The recall pertains to 150g packs with best before dates of February 17, 18 and 23, 2026.
