The Met Office has issued several new weather warnings ahead of Storm Amy.
The Met Office has issued several new weather warnings as the UK braced for Storm Amy, which could bring 95mph winds to parts of the UK. Schools in Northern Ireland have already been told to close early as the first named storm of the season sweeps in from the Atlantic.
Ferry sailings between Scotland and Northern Ireland have been cancelled. Flood warnings are in place for parts of Scotland, with road and railway disruptions also expected. People living in parts of the Highlands and Western Isles have been warned of a “danger to life” from flying debris, potential power cuts, as well as road closures and damage to buildings.

What warnings are in place?
The Met Office has issued scores of fresh warnings. A yellow warning for strong winds covers Grampian, the Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, Highlands and Eilean Siar from midnight to 9am on Sunday.
A second yellow warning for strong winds comes into effect at midnight tonight and is set to remain in place until 7pm on Saturday. It applies to South West England, North West England, the Midlands, South East England, the East of England, London and Yorkshire and the Humber.
A third yellow warning for wind covers Wales from midnight to 7pm on Saturday. A warning for wind applies to Northern Ireland from 2pm on Friday until midnight on Saturday.
Amber warnings have also been issued by the Met Office. The forecaster is warning of damaging winds and disruption from midnight tonight until 9pm on Saturday in the Highlands, Eilean Siar, the Orkney Islands, Grampian and Shetlands.
Another amber warning applies to the same areas from 5pm today until midnight tonight, as well as Grampian and Strathclyde.
Yellow weather warnings for rain apply from midday on Friday to 11.59pm on Saturday in Scotland. These warn of a risk to life from deep water and flooding.
The areas included in these warnings are: Strathclyde, Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian, Borders, Highlands, Eilean Siar, Grampian, Central, Tayside and Fife.
Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures, while train and bus services may see delays, according to the Met Office.
Communities may be cut off by flooded roads or landslides, and possible power cuts or losses of other services may affect some homes and businesses.
