The UK could be hit by gales of up to 75mph in days with several major cities braced for days of potentially damaging weather. Newly released data from WXCharts.com shows weather maps turning purple in parts as heavy winds sweep in from the Atlantic Ocean.
The gusts look set to be accompanied by a wall of rain with large parts of the country set to be swamped by rain of up to 20cm throughout Saturday, October 4. The Met Office has already issued a 37-hour warning over the storms and in its forecast for Friday, October 3 to Saturday, October 12 said: “This period could begin with some very disturbed weather for the British Isles, with a deep low probably passing to the North or North-west of the country. This means there is potential for very strong winds and some further heavy rain.”

A Met Office forecast for Wednesday to Friday said: “Rain will turn heavy across the northwest through midweek with strong winds, especially on Friday.
“Staying drier in the south but increasingly cloudy. Temperatures around average.”

The deluge will continue throughout Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday morning before a brief period of respite towards the end of the weekend.

Southern England is likely to face only around 30mm, which is still well above average and almost half of what the area usually sees in the whole month of October.
Midlands and Wales can expect 50-70mm of rain over the next five to seven days.

Where will see the worst of the storm?
Throughout Friday, much of the country will be soaked in rain, with, aside from the battering facing Scotland and Ireland, Manchester and Newcastle likely to see the heaviest rainfall, with as much as 3cm falling per hour.
Winds will be strong in central and northern England but will remain lighter in Scotland, which is set to see the eye of the storm, and the southern areas of England.
Through Saturday, gales will increase across the mainland, with Wales likely to bear the brunt of gale force winds.
The South of the country will also see heavy winds in the morning before easing slightly in the afternoon.
Rain will be lighter than on Friday but will still be significant, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland, central England, London and the south west.
