Damning new polling reveals that Brits feel let down by Labour as Sir Keir Starmer fails to meet their expectations. The data shows that working-class voters feel the most betrayed by the Government just one year after winning the General Election, with three quarters of respondents believing Labour has not lived up to what it promised. Brits identified tackling the cost-of-living crisis as their number one priority, despite this being a key aim of the Prime Minister in his election campaign.

Bringing down soaring migration figures is also a key concern among voters. The polling, commissioned by the Daily Mail which surveyed 2,000 people, lays bare the dwindling faith Brits have in the government. In the poll, 66% said Labour has so far failed their expectations as 51% reported thinking unfavourably of Sir Keir.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage came out top in the survey, with 42% of respondents thinking favourably of him. However, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch only received 28%, while the Labour leader followed closely behind with 27%.

Despite Sir Keir’s pledge to take action to stop the boats in recent months, Brits have little faith in the issue being tackled. Only 28% of people think Labour will successfully prevent Channel crossings, with 64% believing they would fail.

The polling also shows that voters feel let down by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, with many believing the state of the economy has worsened over the past year.

People in the UK say they have become tired of the government’s complaints about issues they claim they inherited from the Conservatives, such as the £22 billion black hole.

According to the data, nearly half of voters believe Labour blames the previous Government too much, compared to just 8% who think the Tories should be blamed more.

The polling comes after the Chancellor said that Labour should be judged by its success in “ordinary” people being better off under their party.

“What matters is at the end of our time in office can we say that kids from ordinary backgrounds are living richer and more fulfilled lives than when we came into office?” she told a conference in London.

“And if we can say yes, then we’ve done a good job. And if no, it’s probably about time that someone else took over.”
