Tense This Morning migrant row erupts as furious ITV fans call for presenter axe

Viewers of the This Morning strongly disagreed with one panellist’s take on immigration.

This Morning viewers were left fuming as reality star Ashley James waded into the ongoing immigration debate as they reviewed the news of the day. Her views left fans of the show outraged as she seemed to dismiss crimes committed by immigrants and opposed what she described as Nigel Farage “anti-immigration rhetoric” including his claim that immigrants are stealing and eating swans.

When it was raised that some of the illegal immigrants in the UK have been found guilty of committing crimes against women, she shot back: “When we talk about men, we’re told, not all men. But this is not an immigration issue. The threat to women and girls is a man issue. It’s not an immigrant issue, and it derails the very real threat that women and girls face by making it an immigration issue. Because if you look at the statistics, it’s happening up and down the country, and it’s not an immigration thing, it is a man thing,” she insisted.

Taking to X one raged: “According to Ashley @ #ThisMorning these things don’t happen and are made up to ‘demonise migrants’ @ashleyljames isn’t that right love, you still on that soap box of yours?”

Another added: “It is not flag s******* to be a citizen concerned about the sexual assaults and r*** of British women and children by men from cultures that are not compatible with ours – and of who we know nothing about. T***.”

A third speculated: “Ashley must have some dirt on ITV bosses to be constantly on this show talking absolute b*****.”

A fourth shared: “@ashleyljames there are British men who commit sexual assault, but some of the illegals coming over here are 22 times more likely to commit sexual assault. Perhaps u should put women & girls first, rather than over-talk everyone with ur tedious left-wing rhetoric #ThisMorning.”

A fifth called for her to be axed from the programme writing: “It may be worth getting rid of Ashley@thismorning… read the room, the GP doesn’t take to her and her propaganda.. we also don’t like ppl that don’t give others a chance to talk.. get her off that soap box. #ThisMorning”

A sixth agreed penning: “Judging by the tweets, Ashley’s ‘opinion’ is not that of the general population, so why is she even on the show? Who does she represent? #ThisMorning.”

Near the end of the discussion Ashley appeared to be doing somewhat of a u-turn admitting the immigration system is “not working”. “I’m very happy to have a conversation around immigration, and we all agree on any side, that the system at the moment is not working, and that also people shouldn’t be having to risk their lives on dinghies,” she said.

“What (Farage) is doing is fabricating the truth to fit an agenda and to scapegoat away. And he’s also talking about removing us from the ECHR, which, by the way, protects UK citizens. …So what he’s doing is actually incredibly dangerous. And going back to your point about women and girls – he defended Andrew Tate. He stood next to Conor McGregor. So I really dislike this idea that he’s doing anything to protect women and girls with his anti-immigration rhetoric.”
