Jeremy Kyle walked off the set of TalkTV during a row about asylum seekers live on the show. During a panel hosted by Mike Graham, panellist Samara Gill revealed that migrants are being offered a 40% discount on beach huts by Portsmouth City Council, leaving her fellow guests and the audience at home reeling.

Samara explained: “It was revealed that essentially they were giving off 40% discounts to beach huts to asylum seekers who were occupying the town.” The admission caused Jeremy to thump the desk in frustration before scraping his chair back and walking off to put his head against the nearest wall.

He begged: “What do they need a beach hut for?” before confessing: “I can’t do this any more.”

Returning to his chair, Jeremy said: “A beach hut! I live by the sea, they’re £200,000! But don’t worry, we’ll give them to the migrants. But they’d need them decked out, they’re pretty basic. I mean, what about Sky Television and a PlayStation?”

He was warned: “Jeremy, there’s more.” Samara claimed migrants are being offered “hypotherapy” – though it is not clear whether or not she meant hypnotherapy or hydrotherapy.

She said: “I’ve had to write all this down because it’s so bloody technical, hypotherapy for stress relief because apparently not paying any of your own bills is extremely stressful.”

In reality, asylum seekers are being given a free Portsmouth Leisure Card – the same given to locals on benefits – which offers them 40% off beach hut hire for two weeks every year. The card also offers 40% off paddleboarding, sailing and kayaking, 50% off swimming lessons, table tennis and climbing, and discounts on cinema tickets.

Those on Universal Credit, income support, council tax support, housing benefit, ESA and pension credit are also eligible for the same discounts, as well as foster carers with foster children.
