Angela Rayner is reportedly planning to challenge Keir Starmer’s leadership and make a bid for his position – and GB News fans are not amused.

Oscar Reddrop, the former Special Adviser to Boris Johnson in his Prime Minister days, joined GB News this morning to predict that Keir Starmer would be “banging his fist on the desk in frustration” every day over the political upheaval that Rachel Reeves‘ bombshell inflation announcement will have caused. With bills rising higher than ever and inflation rocketing to 3.5%, Starmer and Reeves’ popularity has plummetted to an all time low – and Oscar believes Angela Rayner now has her eye on the “top job”.
“The political intrigue is Angela Rayner declaring pretty much open warfare on the No. 10-No. 11 orthodoxy,” he declared to an avidly listening Stephen Dixon, suggesting that she is now “showing the Labour left that there is another way”. Rayner also set herself apart from the rest of the government by proposing a cap on migrants’ benefits and their access to the NHS – something which could make her very popular with those who have become disillusioned with Starmer and his policies. “Do you think she’s pitching for the top job? Do you think there’s gonna be movement?” Stephen quizzed, to which Oscar confidently replied: “100%.”

Rachel Reeves to blame for today’s inflation surge – now she faces an even bigger shock
“Actually, very skilfully, she has identified that Rachel Reeves is a real, real weakness for this government now,” he exclaimed.
“I remember when I worked at No. 10 for Boris the No 10-No. 11 relationship when times are tough can get really fraught. Starmer will be banging his fist on the desk in frustration around the trouble that Rachel Reeves is causing the government!”
However, the prospect of Rayner as the nation’s new Prime Minister isn’t one GB News viewers are investing in, as their furious comments on X demonstrated.
“Gosh and here I am thinking it can’t get any worse!” one wrote.

Another seethed: “Next up for the Top Job is the dimwit Rayner – how low can the UK sink?”
A third exclaimed in dismay: “Oh hell no… he’s bad enough, but her!! She will destroy Britain – she’s doing so much damage already.”
However, a fourth took the idea very seriously, quizzing: “Will the public think, ‘Yes please, anyone but Starmer?'”
The backlash comes just hours after Rachel Reeves insisted, in the wake of horror inflation rates which were significantly higher than expected for spring, that she still felt Brits are better off than they had been under the Tories.
